Anime Never Fails to Surprise me.

Man, I love the Japanese. Because when they do crazy, they do it on some kind of primal full-tilt bugfuck batshit level that we Americans can't begin to conceive of. Want proof? Check out the trailer for the upcoming Japanese animated film 'After School Midnighters', a film about a human body model that dances, rides a motorcycle, dodges killer bunny rabbits, and protects his school from the forces of evil . More after the jump.
"He is a flame specimen!" "The golden duo is coming!" My God, how I wished I lived in Tokyo so I could see this thing this summer... Anyway, here's the official synopsis for After School Midnighters, "An original computer-generated animation film by a young and spirited director with a skillful VFX/CGI crew who has a lot of experience in movies and TV commercials. The main character 'Kynst Lijk' is a human body model that stands in a science room of an elementary school. Kynst Lijk also reigns over the school after midnight. One day, when a naughty kindergarden trio accidentally meets him, his ordinary life changes. The scariest and craziest after midnight adventure begins...

Great Anime Movie For Adults!

Anime is a medium rather than a genre, in much the same way “the movies” encompass more than just what comes out of Hollywood. (click on READ MORE to check out trailer!)The diversity of anime is a big part of what drew me to it and keeps me there: it’s more than just kid’s stuff. (Not that “kid’s stuff” is by itself a bad thing — the new My Little Pony is far better than it has any right to be.)
Anime that’s aimed at older audiences also covers more territory than one might think at first. The most common association people have for “adult animation” is either material that would win a hard R (Black Lagoon) or an NC-17 (the hentai subgenre). But pull back a bit and you’ll see anime for mature audiences in more than one sense of the word mature — mature as in thoughtful and wise about human nature (House of Five Leaves) or informed by a strong sense of the political complexity of the real world (Eden of the East).
To help navigate these waters, we’ve put together the Great Anime For Adults feature, in which we explore all facets of anime aimed at older viewers. The twenty titles we’ve kicked off the list with are from all over the map: the three listed above are on there, along with feature films from Mamoru Oshii and Satoshi Kon, two directors known for creating what could be best described as “thinking man’s animation.” (Kon’sMillennium Actress, shown here, is one of his many films that are on the list.)

YOU CAN NOW PLAY THE CRANE GAME ONLINE.

Convenience! Playing a crane game online is now a thing photo

Now this is what I call convenient! Apparently, there is such thing as a crane game that you can play on a web browser. This game goes by the name of Torebawhich was created by a game developing company known as Cyberstep. You know what the best part of it is? You actually get to win the items that you grab with the claw. If you do manage to win something, the Website will send the prize to your house. However, you might have to pay the shipping fee for it to be sent.
Each game cost 100 yen (Around US$1.20), which is pretty realistic when you think about it. As for prizes, there are figures of characters from Aria the Scarlet AmmoNanoha The Movie 1stStrike WitchesRailgunAngel Beats!,Baka and Test - Summon the Beast 2, and Nico Nico.
One of the best parts of this game is that the prizes are categorized by series, so you won’t have to worry about getting a prize from a show that you don’t care about. As a quick heads up, the Angel Beats! and Nico Nico figures are sold out, and the Nanoha game is having a few technical issues.
Another great thing about Toreba is that you will get to change the camera while you are playing, so that you can position the claw properly. Thus giving you the entire crane game experience from the comfort of your own home. Be sure to check out the images below to see if you are interested in any of the prizes.

Panty & Stocking cast for English dub!

A little more than a year after announcing their license, FUNimation finally announced the English cast list forPanty & Stocking with Garterbelt at Anime Central. Jamie Marchi will be trying to get laid as Panty, with Monica Rial taking care of the sweets as Stocking. Christopher R. Sabat rounds out the main trio as Garterbelt, voicing a black stereotype and not sounding too offensive in the process.
It's always hard to tell from a one-minute trailer, but even though FUNimation is relying on their usual voice actors, the English cast sounds like a perfect fit for the show. I echo the sentiments of a lot of fans in thinking that the English dub would do pretty well on Adult Swim, with the right marketing.
Panty & Stocking will be released on limited edition DVD on July 10. It's just a shame that we're missing out on a Blu-ray release due to Kadokawa's stupid policy that bans foreign Blu-ray releases in 2012. Maybe next year?

The official website for the Fuse Teppō Musume no Torimonochō (Fuse: A Gun Girl's Detective Story) anime film adaptation of Kazuki Sakuraba's Fuse Gansaku: Satomi Hakkenden novel began streaming a promotional video on Friday. The 48-second video introduces the film's title gun girl Hamaji who hunts dog-human hybrids known as Fuse. The video also reveals that the film will open in Japan this October.
In Kyokutei Bakin's classic Japanese epic novel Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, eight samurai serve the Satomi clan during Japan's tumultuous Sengoku (Warring States) era. The Edo-era samurai are the reincarnations of the spirits that Princess Fuse mothered with a dog named Yatsufusa. In Sakuraba's Fuse Gansaku: Satomi Hakkenden novel, the female hunter Hamaji comes to her brother in order to hunt Fuse. Thus, the karmic cycle of retribution that began long ago with the Satomi family begins anew.

Anime Addicts Satisfy YOUR Thirst With 'Evangelion Water Body' Bottles

Jap Anime Shop - news, views, reviews, and articles on all things anime in the WORLD

Curvy bottle shapes are nothing new, as Coca-cola's classic "coke-bottle" has demonstrated for decades but few other beverage companies have gone for that ergonomic yet obviously female form - until now.

Displayed prominently at the recent Foodex Japan 2010 show in Tokyo were a pair of Evangelion Water Body bottles certain to warm any anime lovers heart... and soothe their thirst in the bargain.

The bottles are not only voluptuously curved, but sport futuristic red and white bodysuits that reference those worn by characters Asuka Langley Soryu and Rei Ayanami in the mega-successful Neon Genesis Evangelion series of manga, movies and games.

The bodacious bodysuited bottles are set to be released to retail outlets on May 26, 2010, to coincide with the release of "Evangelion: Destruction" on Blu-ray and DVD. The estimated cost per each 280ml (9.5 oz) bottle is 368 yen or about $4.

ANIMES BEST ENGLISH DUBBED MOVIES!

Jap Anime Shop - news, views, reviews, and articles on all things anime in the WORLD

Few topics in anime, apart from maybe piracy, are as divisive as English dubbing. Some love it because it makes their favorite shows that much more accessible to other audiences; some hate it because it was done outside of the original production team, or because they resent dubbing on principle.  CHECK FOR WHICH ONES ARE AVAILABLE!

I've been on both sides of this argument, and a big part of what's moved me gradually into the pro-dub camp has been the gradual but measurable improvement in quality of the average English-dubbed anime title. So much so that it seemed high time to compile a list of titles that have dubs of note.
When putting together this list, I opted for diversity first. It made sense to provide a taste of all sides of what English dubs could be -- faithful, experimental, or downright outlandish. Some of them are titles that have long held most-favored-dub status with fans (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Some are titles which take enormous risks with the dub process but get away with all of them (Shin-chan). And some are flagship shows that deserve being called out for having excellent work done across the board (Fullmetal Alchemist).
Also, this is an open-ended list: it'll be added to as new and noteworthy dubs cross our desk.
See the complete list of our most notable English dubs, and feel free to make suggestions in the comments

Bandai trying to expand their Market to American and European territory!

Developer and publisher Namco Bandai Games has reportedly combined its U.S. and European operations, with the hope of replicating the success it's experiencing in Japan.

The company claims that its game sales accounted for nearly a quarter of Japan's software market during the last fiscal year (ending March 31), thanks to big hits like Tales of Xillia and Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS.

And two months ago, it released One Piece: Pirate Warriors for PS3 in Japan, which became one of the fastest-selling and biggest-selling games for Sony's console -- the game arrives to the West later this year, with a Digital-only U.S. release.

Mark Tsuji, previously president of Bandai America, will serve as CEO for the new consolidated team. The company believes that joining the U.S. and European branches allows it to have a united front to better serve Western consumers.

"We wanted to unite our overseas organisation under one leadership," said Namco Bandai's VP Carlson Choi, according to MCV. "It is a continuation of our direction, where as a company the overseas business becomes even more critical."

Choi adds, "Over the last year we have been beginning our transformation of the overseas business, making sure that we are not only bringing East to West content but also sub-developing and bringing content from the West that can propagate to the East."

Namco Bandai's upcoming titles for the west include third-person shooter InversionDragon Ball Z Kinect, Level-5 and Studio Ghibli's RPG collaboration Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and a third-person shooter set in the Star Trek universe.
